After talking to my developers yesterday, I learned a few things that might help you:
1. The last error you got is likely a video error. Try taking a trace without video and see if it works.
2. HAXM is the intel acceleration in Lollipop - this might be causing issues. I am able to reproduce you issue in the 5.0.1 and the new 5.1 emulators. We will look to solve this in our next release.

Hey, It is working fine without the video. Thanks for your help. Anyway I wanted to analyse the power consumed while making a phone call. Is there anyway to do that?

Glad we got it working.
We only measure the data radio, but the circuit switched radio. If you wanted to measure a VOIP call with Skype or VoLTE, ARO will see the packets and measure the power used.
But for a traditional phone call - ARO won't be able to help.
