Our app uses GCM or APNS to receive updates when the user has received a message. We would like to add AT&T in-app messaging with notifications, but we would like to avoid leaving a STOMP connection open between the client and AT&T server. Is there a way to establish a connection between our server and AT&T to receive notifications, so we can relay those through GCM/APNS? It seems that STOMP only supports one login per connection, and we cannot establish a connection per user between our servers and AT&T.
Sorry for the delay. As you are noting, the only avenue currently supported for push notifications today is Websockets via STOMP, which is designed for a client-server model and which requires a persistent connection for each message inbox you want notifications for. AT&T is working on different push notification that will work in a server-server model, however there is no date yet for the availability of this. Another alternative is to poll for updates utilizing the Get Message Delta and Get Message methods if your traffic needs are such that you don¿t need instant updates.
Hope that helps,
