Is the coverage area of the addon kit more limited than for standard phone service? I was under the impression it would work anywhere my phone would work and thus is the reason I forked out the extra money for an LTE kit as the 2g support for my other devices seems to be going away.
My LTE addon kit showed up today and I followed the instructions to add the sim card and tried to add the device on the iot website. the only device option they had was for the starter kit and trying to add the sn of my addon kit returned an error, but the sim seemed to add fine. Plugging the device directly into the pc shows no signal using the WNC connection manager and regardless of setting the APN or using the auto select, it would not connect.
So I connected it via USB to a raspberry pi and followed the instructions in the getting started guide. I set the apn as instructed using minicom and at commands but the ip address still shows a 10.0.0.x - so I went to the trouble shooting steps as suggested by the guide.
AT+CPIN? returns 'ready'
AT+CREG? returns 2,0
AT+CSQ returns 99,99
The device is placed just a few inches away from my cell phone which is what I'm using as a hotspot so I can write this ticket at this moment. So service is available via a tower I can see from the window just down the road.
