IoT Starter Kit (2nd Gen) problems 08.22.2018 10:36 AM
I ordered the kit on 8/13, was told "we'll send an email when it ships". As of 8/20, no news, I asked when they would ship, response was 10-12 business days. It arrived yesterday (8/21) from Arizona, so nobody bothered to send an email that it shipped. Meanwhile I asked for info on how to program the board, what language it's in (I'm guessing C) and still waiting to hear if the "engineers" know anything about directions on how to program it.
So the board came yesterday, it let me register the sim card. Won't let me register the board--in the "Quick Start" guide, it refers you to a website. What's the kit number? Where is the serial number? All I've been able to get is "Error: Device not found." Avnet wants nothing to do with it, it's AT&T's problem according to them. AT&T wants to know where I got the kit: from AT&T's website. Their help doesn't come on until 9am, and closes at 5 I think, but it doesn't post the hours anywhere. I've been waiting for 4 hours for the chat bot to talk to the support team, no indication that they're getting anywhere and 5pm is approaching.
On the surface, iot is a fantastic concept. But to develop one (1) remote sensor, I've had to register 1)with AT&T, 2) the sim card #, 3) the device kit and serial #, 4) I expect with m2m but I'm not that far yet, and 5) I think also with AWS or some other company to report the data. 6) Avnet and 7) Cisco are somehow involved also.
Above, 4) should be m2x, and I didn't include flow or jasper.
So the 'kit part number' is 'AES-ATT-M18Q2FG-SK-G' and serial number is 'A000xxxx', both found on the label on the box but without having been identified anywhere as the kit part number and serial number. The serial number is NOT the s/n on the LTE/GPS chip label on the board.
The chat box disappeared today. Can't get any help from anywhere at AT&T. Their iot customer solutions number (877-265-2118) referred me to 800-331-0500, 866-288-7629, 888-333-6651, 877-438-0041 and 877-782-8870, none of which helped. I was finally referred to an associate of one of the representatives from the iot customer solutions number who is going to try to have someone help tomorrow.
The Avnet forum (cloudconnect.org) tried to help a bit, but at this point I haven't found anyone to respond to why the device fails the ip/internet test, 'never had a data session, suspected APN issue'.
Why isn't that in the knowledge base, and could someone from AT&T please put it in?

Pretty much gave up on this now. The chat person wants me to open a ticket and include my email but the system won't allow '&' (as in AT&T) or '@' as in my email address. They can come pick up the board with the blinking yellow light.
