Testing node.js access to Mongo database on Mongolab using my own coded calls in a function node to the mongodb driver. Not using Flow supplied Mongodb nodes.
When using the "default" mongodb driver package that is pre-installed (no mongodb defined in the projects package.json file) I was seeing hang problems when running updates to the database.
The problem seems to have been that the default driver package was not compatible with Mongolabs 3.0 database version. When I added an updated mongodb package/version (2.1.7) to my projects package.json file the updates started to behave as expected.
So, the question is in this cloud environment how can I tell what versions of the node.js dependent packages have been pre-installed?
Or is the proper answer to make sure I have explicity defined the packages/versions my project depends on in the projects package.json file and not try to use the preinstalled packages?
