Why You Need To Attend An AT&T Mobile App Hackathon
Check out our upcoming list of events and clear an upcoming weekend to attend one of our upcoming AT&T Mobile App Hackathons. What is a hackathon you ask? It’s the new way to meet developers and business/marketing people interested in building new and cutting edge applications over the course of a weekend. The brilliance of a hackathon is the rapid brainstorming interactions between team members as well as the rapid technology research, deployment and realization of an idea.
Hackathons serve as an excellent opportunity to take your career into your own hands and gain insight into team dynamics, network with your potential future team members as well as land your future job. Your hackathon team members could easily be your future employer or at least a referral to a potential job. The Harvard Business Review published an excellent blog this last week that proclaims “Resumes are dead. Interviews are largely ineffectual. Linked-In is good. Portfolios are useful.”
A number of mobile app companies have increasingly begun to attend our AT&T hackathons by sending their senior developers to recruit talent. The benefit for the interviewing parties is that they get to work through the night with the potential candidate and better understand what makes that candidate tick. Is the candidate interesting? Can the hiring developer really stay up until 2AM with the potential candidate? What are their passions? What does the person think about the recruiting company?
Indeed, seeing how a potential hire interacts/deals with a live project is a good “trial by fire.” Hackathons are a fantastic method for non-technical and technical groups alike to interview their team-members-to-be as candidates interaction with a variety of personalities and especially how the candidate operate under extreme pressure and ambiguous goals.
So come check out our next AT&T Mobile App Hackathon and level up on interview skills. Who knows? You might just meet your next employer!
