If you’ve ever tried to bring new ideas into Fortune 500 corporations, you know how difficult it can be to initiate change where the change initiation process will kill the idea or the discussion will.
Take a read through a recent post from Eric Reis’s blog about the Nordstrom Innovation Lab and their efforts to bring successful (and profitable) innovation within a Fortune 500 corporation:
In a true “lean startup” fashion, the blog gives you just enough information on the topic of lean startups and Nordstroms and then invites the user to post follow up comments to indicate interest. If there is sufficient interest, the blog will be expanded. Brilliant!
Make sure you check out the blog, but the three main take aways are as follows:
- One Week Iterations
- Genchi gembutsu
- Simple, rapid, experiments
Also, if you are in Seattle on December 5th, 2011, be sure to register for the Lean Startup Seattle event that will cover the blog. As an added bonus, Jeremy Lightsmith, JB Brown and Marius Grigoriu will be there as part of the panel and to answer questions.
