LTE and Mobile App Development
Continuing its nationwide 4G LTE rollout, AT&T launched 4G LTE in Detroit, Honolulu, Seattle, Pittsburgh and Portland yesterday (September 19th). AT&T 4G LTE is now live in 72 markets. This means customers in LTE areas are now able to enjoy the fastest mobile Internet speeds.
What would be the impact of 4G phone + LTE network to the world of mobile apps?
As a consumer , I would probably do more video streaming, music, FaceTime, social networking and internet browsing with my LTE phone. As a small business owner, I probably would use more Cloud services to run my business as well as social networking to market my products and services with the LTE fast speed.
As a developer, I start to think of what apps can be developed in order to leverage the faster mobile network, faster response time, Big Data management and new devices. It’s an exciting time to be a developer with technology moving so fast and with the market increasing in demands for mobile apps. At the same time, there are questions to be answered: How will this impact the apps that were written for 3G? What will happen when a 4G app ends up running in a 3G network?
Our white paper “Best Practices for 3G and 4G App Development” addresses these concerns. And a webcast “LTE Overview and Best Practices for App Development” will be hosted on Oct 18th to answer your questions after reading the white paper.
At the same time, please share with us your thought about the impact of LTE.
