An easy path for developers to purchase data to get their connected solutions to market quickly.

AT&T introduced cellular data plans for developers to wirelessly connect their Internet of Things (IoT) projects. Developers can now purchase a bucket of prepaid data to power up to a 1,000 devices on the AT&T network. “This is actually quite exciting for AT&T because we haven’t done anything quite like this before,” stated Sunder Somasundaram, Head of IoT Services and Developer Ecosystem Engagement at AT&T. “What’s awesome is that this gives developers a quick and flexible way to deploy their devices on an LTE network. And all they need is a credit card to make the purchase.”

Getting started in the IoT space used to mean that you needed to piecemeal your solution, but with AT&T’s recent announcements of AT&T IoT Starter Kit and now IoT data plans, coupled with the AT&T IoT Platform, developers can find the tools they need to create their IoT solution.

Data plans are sold in three different packages and data is shared across all SIMs in your account over the term of the plan. With an available auto-renew option, plans can be replenished when the user reaches a 200MB threshold or when the term is completed.
