AT&T / SDGE Energy Conservation Hackathon
Good speakers can make a big difference in motivation / ideation at a hackathon and the speakers at the AT&T / SDGE Energy Hackathon on 11/08/13 created a significant impact on the attendees. Better yet, the 80+ attendees and ten teams were made up of very enthuthastic AT&T and SDGE employees who also helped to shape the apps that were pitched and worked on at the event.

Whack-a-Watt – Whack-a-Watt is an application that lets corporate executives be kids again with their facilities energy management. It enables a corporate-wide view of energy consumption, which empowers location managers to compete for the best energy footprint. The executives get a better bottom line from the sharing of knowledge about energy conservation at the best sites.
Cog-EN – Cog-EN understands the user and adapts to his or her energy use. It tracks the user’s energy consumption and life events, intelligently suggesting ways in which the user may conserve energy, thereby reducing the user’s monthly energy bill, and resulting in a decrease of energy demand on the grid.
