AT&T Foundry, Voxeo Labs Join Forces with Recovers to Help Oklahoma Tornado Victims
In the wake of the Moore, Oklahoma tragedy, the AT&T Foundry teamed up with a group called Recovers who built a localized web presence that allows donated resources such as food, clothing and volunteers to be effectively deployed directly to the people and places affected by the devastating tornado in Oklahoma. Developers at the AT&T Foundry, along with Voxeo Labs, leveraged AT&T’s Developer Program APIs (SMS, Call Management and Speech) to implement text and voice frameworks for Recovers to utilize. Prior to the availability of the text message and voice options, survivors requesting assistance would have needed access to the internet. The development took only a few hours and within one hour after setting up the service, three affected residents in Moore had already used the SMS and voice interface to request assistance. The needs submitted are stored in a private database where requests can potentially be satisfied by nonprofits, churches and individuals.
