This User Interface (UI) content section provides mobile-focused design principles along
with universally applicable UI design principles.
Device screen limitations are a primary concern for mobile UI design. In contrast to desktop UI
design, space is at a premium and every pixel must count. Additionally, an increasing variety
of screen sizes and input methodologies demand additional planning and potentially development
time. There are security and privacy concerns to be addressed in a user-friendly way. And
developers must also manage the fast pace of innovation in network and device capabilities
designed to deliver an ever richer user experience.
Developers also need to begin think about mobile content and apps rendering across three
screens—phone, computer and TV. This indicates a need for developers to consider reusable
UI components for development to reduce cost and time to market.
AT&T is committed to enabling better customer experiences by providing access to tools,
content, and best practice materials for developers to do their best work. We welcome your
inquiries or feedback regarding this UI material—or any other part of the site. Please send
