Although AT&T is a leading vendor of Smartphones, developers might be surprised to learn that approximately 65 percent of AT&T customers are not on Smartphones. That means there is great opportunity for growth in this mid-range device segment (also known as Quick Messaging Devices, or QMDs). This segment has traditionally been underserved by appealing and accessible applications, so AT&T commercialization of Brew Mobile Platform (Brew MP) will increase focus on this key market.
Brew is a well-established platform, scalable across a broad array of application and device types. The newest version, Brew MP, is a complete mobile operating system (OS) that is backward-compatible with previous versions of the Brew application execution environment. The addition of Brew MP to the family of AT&T-supported platforms will achieve the goal of driving consistency across AT&T devices.
