AT&T U-verse® Enabled SDK 2.0 for iOS

AT&T U-verse Enabled APIs allow apps served from compatible mobile and/or tablet devices to connect to a U-verse receiver (i.e. set-top box) over the in-home AT&T WiFi network, enabling apps to interact with customers' TV screens and our U-verse TV service.

Once paired with a receiver, your app can:

  • Send remote-control commands,
  • Receive data on what is being watched,
  • Detect events such as channel changes,
  • Direct the U-verse receiver to display compatible content from specially configured URLs that you host.

To see more details on the U-verse Enabled APIs, see the AT&T U-verse Enabled Technical Details in the API Catalog.

Note that today the SDK is only available for iOS. As other SDKs become available they will be announced in the newsletter and here on the developer portal.

Steps to Develop with the U-verse Enabled SDK 2.0 for iOS.

To get started, you'll need to download the U-verse Enabled SDK 2.0 for iOS and setup your testing environment . Once you've finalized the app, you will submit it to AT&T for final testing and a production certificate.

  1. Join the AT&T Developer Program.
  2. Download the U-verse Enabled SDK 2.0 for iOS and get familiar with the content, including the guidelines for development.
  3. You will need to work in a U-verse development environment to begin testing your code. This is a two step process:
    1. First, you'll need to get access to the test environment.
    2. Next you will need a test certificate. You will need purchase access to the API platform in order to request a test certificate. With your purchase you will have access to all the AT&T APIs, including U-verse. To learn more about the API offerings, visit AT&T U-verse Enabled in the API Catalog.
    3. After you have purchased the API access, you will need to submit your application idea in the U-verse Tool (through the developer dashboard), which will trigger AT&T to send you a testing certificate and authentication package.
  4. When you are ready to publish your app to production, you will need to submit the app to AT&T for final testing and approval through the U-verse developer dashboard. Note to submit applications you need to join the AT&T developers program and be a member of a valid AT&T developer program organization. You can set up your own organization when you sign up.

If you have any questions about how to setup your environment, please refer to the FAQs or Developer Forum. Both can be accessed by clicking the Support tab in the header and selecting FAQs or Developer Forum.
